Stealing Away Chapter 4

Stealing Away

Sometimes, only a moment can last forever.

Part IV- Dinner and desert of a different kind.

OoOoOoO

It was a quarter till six as Hermione was nearing the dungeons. She was careful how fast she walked. She had to make sure her steps where soft enough as to not alert Mrs. Norris or even worse, Professor Snape. She rounded the corner to the hallway that, according to the map she was given, Remus’ room was and noticed a small sign indicating a restroom. Rather than going straight to his room she decided to take a small detour into the restroom.

She looked at her reflection in the mirror and was please and what she saw back. Her hair was down and curly like it normally was, but her face was made up with a tinted brown eye shadow and a barley-there pink lip gloss which made all her features stand out. She wore a simple thin-strapped black dress accented with a small silver butterfly pin she had received from her mother. She wore black open toed heel, just to pull it all together. All together, outwardly, she looked very beautiful, calm and collected. However, on the inside she was a girl who was about to explode.

Class during the day was more difficult than she could have ever imagined. She very well couldn’t explain to everyone why her nerves were in a bunch, so she spent the whole day creating excuses for herself. It wasn’t that the classes had gotten any harder, it just seemed as if her attention span had eaten itself up, all thanks to the letter from Remus. Harry and Ron made it a joke to count how many times she had spaced out. During lunch she couldn’t keep from doping everything and, after spilling juice on Ginny for the third time, she excused herself from the table and headed to the library. Potions was a disaster, for it seemed that Hermione’s clumsiness wasn’t something for just the lunchroom. Professor Snape nearly kicked her out after she had added the bat kidney too early to the sleep draught, causing it to become deadly if ingested. Thankfully, Potions was the last class of the day, and she had a good 3 hours to prepare for the evening.

She did one last turn in the mirror and, finally satisfied with the fact that looking at her reflection won’t change anything, she left the restroom and walked down the hallway reading the numbers on the dungeon door. She walked up to the door that said 2343 and looked at the paper in her hand.

2343. That’s what the paper says.

She raised her hand to nock, but before she could do so, the door opened from the inside.

She looked up and came face to face with…

“Why, Hello Professor Dumbledore.” Hermione choked out, trying to hide her look of surprise.

Dumbledore look down at her and smiled, “Why good evening my dear, Miss Granger. I was just stepping out. I trust that I will not see you in my office later for reasons involving the breaking of curfew. Goodnight.”

Hermione moved to the side and Dumbledore stepped out of the doorway allowing Remus to come and welcome Hermione in. She looked at Remus with a confused look, to which he replied with a smile. Hermione watched Dumbledore walk down the hallway and then stop.

“Oh, Miss Granger.” Dumbledore started looking over his shoulder at the young girl. “By the way, if I remember correctly Professor Snape patrols this hallway from around 9 to quarter off.” And with that he apparated to his office.

“Gee,” Hermione said slowly her eyes still fixed on the spot where Dumbledore had just been, “It’s like he’s trying to tell me something.”

Remus chuckled causing Hermione to look up at him. She looked into his eyes and immediately was intoxicated. Remus broke contact by grabbing her hand, “Care to come in?” he asked, already knowing the answer.

Rather than replying, Hermione stood on her toes and kissed him. It was a sweet and shy kiss, but one none the less and she replied, “I would love to.”

OoOoOoO

Dinner was quiet. It seemed like they had nothing to say to one another, for they were both quite content with the others presence. After they both had finished eating Remus transformed the dining table into a couch allowing them to be able to talk more comfortably. He handed Hermione a cup of tea and held on to his own. Hermione sat, unsure of where to begin, or even if she should be the one beginning. Remus’ brow was knit together and she could tell that he was as unsure of how to start as she was. Finally she blurted out the only thing she had been thinking about since she knew he came back.

“I missed you, you know.”

She placed the teacup down.

Remus looked up at her and he saw how Hermione’s emotions had began to stir once again.

“It was so hard, not knowing if you were alive or not. I couldn’t tell anyone...how afraid I was…how lonely I felt.”

Remus smiled, touched by her words and looked down at the teacup in his hands.

“Hermione I have missed you too.” he began, “I am glad that you no longer have to go through that pain.”

She looked up at him, waiting for more. Waiting for the words she knew resided within him. Remus, upon seeing her look stopped, the words becoming difficult to say.

“Remus,” she began without even realizing she was saying the words she had kept inside.“I think I love you.”

It happened in a flash. Remus dropped his cup, causing it to break. Hermione’s was knocked over. And she suddenly found herself in his arms. “I am so glad Hermione.” He kissed her and she felt all her emotions melt away. Her nervousness, her excitement, her confusion and her fear were all replaced with relief. After a few minutes, Remus broke apart their kiss and embrace.

“Listen Hermione. I have to tell you that this isn’t going to be easy. I am much older than you…and your teacher. We will need to keep things at a difficult level of secrecy.”

Hermione laughed, “What are you talking about Remus? Nobody knows you are here except for the teachers and I’m sure they are not going to blurt your presence.”

“Yes Hermione, but…”

“And anyway, who cares about my age. I am legal in both the Wizarding world and Muggle. No one will even take notice.”

“I realize that Hermione, however…”

“Don’t forget that I wouldn’t want to jeopardize whatever relationship we start, be it a friendship or another sort. I’m not some sort of gossipy child, you know.”

“Of course. I wasn’t saying that…”

“Also, you are not my teacher anymore. So we are in perfect rules for school if there are even any made up!”

“Uh,” Remus began hoping he wouldn’t get cut off, “That’s not entirely true.”

“I’m sure if anyone found out….huh?” Hermione stopped and looked at Remus, very confused by his statement. “Say again?”

Remus rose on his feet and started pacing as he talked, “Well, the reason Dumbledore was in here prior to your arrival was because he was offering me a job here…again. This way, I will be protected and not have to hide the fact that I am here.”

“Ah.” Hermione replied not sure what this meant for their relationship.

“What does this mean?” She asked, a hint of sadness in her voice.

“It means,” Remus sat down and cupped her cheek with his hand, “That I have to make sure I don’t screw things up by letting us get caught.’’ He kissed her before she even had time to realize what he had said. It hit her finally, and she kissed him back.

She broke them apart and looked at the clock.

“Bugger. It’s 9. Snape will be in the hallway, if I leave now I will get caught.” Hermione cursed.

“Mmm.” Remus started, a low growl developing in his throat, “that mean there is time for dessert.”

Hermione laughed as he started kissing her neck, thankful for once that Professor Snape was around to “ruin” her plans.

OoOoOoO

Stealing Away part III

Hey there everyone. Just to give you all a heads up, I settled on having 6 chapters for this story. Hope you enjoy! Thanks to all my reviwers!

OoOoO

Stealing Away
Sometimes only a moment can last forever.

Part III-Answers and a request.

OoOoO

She waited patiently. Even though anticipation was eating at her, she waited. She didn’t expect Remus to spill out his whole ordeal quickly-and she was right, he didn’t. So, Hermione, Dumbledore and McGonagall watched as Remus paced about the office searching for words, running his hands through his hair. Occasionally, it looked as if he finally knew where to begin and opened his mouth to speak causing Dumbledore to lean forward expectantly, and McGonagall to look up from her seat at him-but he soon after shut his mouth, apparently not satisfied with the words. Minutes passed in silence, and Hermione kept her eyes focused on Remus, hoping her gaze would help him and give him the comfort to start.

Suddenly, he stopped abruptly in mid pace and looked at Hermione.

“Are you sure you really want to know Hermione?” his eyes were earnest, and it struck Hermione that the reason he was silent and pacing was because he wasn’t sure if he should tell her. Did he not think her strong enough? Surely the ordeal couldn’t have been that bad.

See looked at him, and with eyes full of determination said, “Yes, I am sure.”

He sighed at her answer, apparently not satisfied with it and looked at Dumbledore who nodded slightly.

“Perhaps,” Dumbledore spoke, “I should begin.”

Remus looked at Dumbledore with thanks in his eyes, and walked over to a book shelf and leaned his arm on it and looked away. The action seemed odd for Hermione but she shook her questioning away.

“I came to Remus during the end of June with an assignment. The werewolves are beginning to pledge their allegiance to Voldemort. I needed a spy and it seemed most practical to use him. So, after notifying him of the situation, I told him where he could find the entrance to their underground caves and he left. You have to understand Hermione, that the werewolves could very much tip the balance of this war over to the otherside. They are very powerful, and useful.”

Dumbledore looked at Remus, “I believe it is not your turn.”

Remus gave another sigh and spoke, still facing away from everyone.

“The werewolves where indeed working for Voldemort. In return for their allegiance he promised them many more victims to sire into werewolves, thus creating a werewolf army. They think that they will have a better life with Voldemort. They would terrorize the cities, purposely putting themselves in populated locations before their transformation, then bite every child they could come across.”

A low growl came from McGongall. “Please now Remus, let us not give away things that Miss Granger does not need to know about.”

Hermione shook her statement off and stared at Remus confused.

“Children?” Hermione asked, “But why children, why one so innocent.”

“Because children,” Remus sounded bitter, “and innocents, can adjust better than an adult to being a werewolf. They can teach them to hate normal wizards. Also, because that is the best way to punish people who don’t fulfill their promises.” Remus, for the first time since the start of the conversation looked at Hermione directly rather than away from her.

“You see Hermione that is how I became what I am. My father did not fulfill his promises, and offended their leader Fenrir Greyback. Greyback in return took me, his son, and turned him into a monster.”

“Thanks not true.” Hermione spoke raising her voice, “You are no a monster. You never were and you never will be. You are you. You just have-a bit of a problem. All people have them!” Her voice became louder and stronger with each sentence. “So you just are incapacitated once a month-no big deal! Don’t ever compare yourself to them. They are the monsters Remus Lupin, they are the ones who lost their sense and souls-not you!”

She stopped and realized she was standing. Unsure of how she came to be like that, she glared at Remus-waiting to see if he dared to challenge her opinion. He smiled as she sat down.

“Perhaps.” He looked down again and frowned and stated again his voice becoming serious, “Last week the werewolves finally accepted me as their own. They decided to finally let me come along on one of their ‘hunts’ or so they call them. I went along with them, but secretly took wolfsbane potion to keep me from turning completely monster in the mind. I was still a werewolf, but I thought like a human. Greyback brought me a child to sire. I couldn’t do it. Seeing my hesitation they immediately attacked me. I came straight to Hogwarts to tell Dumbledore.”

He looked at her, ashamed of himself, and reverted his gaze to Dumbledore, “I blew my cover and jeopardized the Order. I am sorry.”

Dumbledore folded his hands on his desk. “Nothing to forgive.”

After a few moments of silence McGongall cleared her throat.

“Well,” McGonagall spoke, “I think you can leave now Miss Granger, I shall write you a pass to…”

“On the contrary my dear Minerva.” Dumbledore cut in on her, “I would like Miss Granger and Remus to stay with me for a little while longer to discuss certain matters.”

McGonagall looked confused and gruffly said, “If you think that is wise Albus, then fine.” She looked sharply at Hermione who jumped slightly. McGonagall looked as if Hermione was to blame. “I expect you to complete your missing assignment. A day of absence is not excuse.”

She left the office, closing the door behind her in a slam. “Minerva doesn’t understand everything as of yet.” Dumbledore smiled and looked at Hermione.

“Miss Granger, I ask, once again, that you be the only one that knows Remus is here. Since you are the sole person other than myself, Professor McGonagall, and the other teachers I ask that you keep him company. I’m sure a young one such as him will be bored with us old folks.” He smiled and looked at Remus. “If that is okay with you of course, Remus.”

“It would be my pleasure.”

Hermione couldn’t believe it. What was going on?! Dumbledore WANTS her to visit Remus and Remus WANTS her there! Was this whole world gong backwards!?

Dumbledore stood form his desk and walked over to Hermione who stood to leave, “Miss Granger, you will be given the password and the location of where Remus is staying. Tell your friends that you are helping me with Prefect duties to explain your absence.”

“Of course, Professor.” With goodbyes said, Hermione left the office quickly, so they would not have time to take back what was said. One she made sure the door was tightly shut, she made a small victory motion and made her way to the common room, a big smile plastered on her face.

OoOoO

After supper at the Great Hall, Hermione made her way into her room, utter disbelief still enveloping her. Throughout the meal, she kept reenacting the conversation in her head, causing Ron, Harry and Ginny to think she had totally gone mad. She silence and spaceyness was not questioned for Harry and Ron didn’t want another breakfast fiasco to happen.

She opened her door and immediately noticed a small owl carrying a letter and a rose in its beak.

She snatched the letter and opened it as if it was an early Christmas present.

She saw the loopy handwriting that belonged to Remus.

Hermione,
If it is of no trouble to you, I would like it if you had dinner with me tomorrow evening. I can’t go to the Great Hall, and dinner alone is quite bothersome. You can meet me at 6 o’clock at my room. The directions are enclosed. My room is located in the dungeons-If anyone asks about your absence, blame prefect duties. I look forward to it.

Remus

p.s.- A rose for you- To thank you for all your trouble.

Hermione closed the letter watched as the tiny owl left through the window.

She laid in her bed, confused and excited.

Oh, damn it all! She said aloud. I will not be able to sleep tonight!

Stealing Away Ch 2

Stealing Away
Sometimes, only a moment can last forever

Part II- Where you expecting someone different?

OoOoO

Hermione’s head felt as if it were about to explode as she made her way up to her dorm in the Gryffindor common room. The night’s events had surprised her indeed. After being scared half to death, breaking curfew and having her former professor pass out on top of her she was quite surprised to have to add reprimanded to that list. She made her way into her room and quietly slid into her bed. Hoping the bed would warm fast she closed the curtains around her bunk, with nothing but the darkness left to comfort her. She let out a soft sigh, and thought about the events that happened.

After Professor Lupin had passed out on top of her, Dumbledore took haste action. Within moments, Madame Pomfrey, Professor McGonagall and to her astonishment, Professor Snape had all arrived at the Great Hall. Snape eyed the unconscious Lupin lying on top of Hermione with distaste and gruffly jerked him off of her by his collar, causing Madame Pomfrey to go ballistic.

“SERVERUS! You know he is ill! That is not a way to treat one that is unconscious.” She shrieked, causing Hermione to hope that no one would wake up. She had thought she saw Dumbledore slightly smile as the sight of Madame Pomfry scolding Snape, but came to the conclusion that it was the light playing tricks on her.

“Forgive me Poppy,” Snape said silkily, “But I was only trying to relieve Miss Granger of Lupin’s dead weight. I must not have known my own strength.”

He looked at Hermione and with fake worry in his voice said, “I do hope I didn’t hurt our dear Lupin.”

He smirked and Hermione knew that if no one where around, Snape would have happily thrown Lupin around a bit- conscious or not. Madame Pomfrey conjured a stretcher and placed Lupin on top of it. With a brief nod to Dumbledore and McGonagall, she levitated the stretcher, and charmed it to follow her as she made her way to the hospital wing.

Dumbledore moved next to Snape and spoke quietly. The conversation was brief and Dumbledore must have given Snape orders because as fast as the conversation started, it ended and Snape stalked out of the Great Hall towards to dungeons, leaving McGonagall, Dumbledore and Hermione alone. After watching Snape leave, Hermione redirected her gaze at McGonagall who was looking quite displeased.

McGonagall’s mouth was only a mere thin line and her eyes shown confusion and disappointment. Her voice, on the other hand, was none to pleasant.

“Miss Granger. I am completely disappointed in you! Up past curfew! Roaming the halls! You, dear, are a Prefect!”

Hermione stood there rubbing her cold feet together. She had never been reprimanded before and McGonagalls words where as sharp as daggers. She stopped talking for a moment, as if testing to see if Hermione would respond. Hermione knew better and after a few moments of silence, McGonagall started again.

“I would have expected this from any other student, but the fact that I am having this conversation with you, is quite a surprise. However,” her tone changed and Hermione looked up at her in confusion, “I am pleased that you thought to tell Professor Dumbledore of the situation and that you where so prompt with your actions. No points will be taken.”

McGonagall smiled at Hermione’s expression and said goodnight leaving Hermione, once again, with Dumbledore. He stood in front of Hermione and looked at her intently. Hoping the silence would be soon broken Hermione fiddled with her fingers.

“Miss Granger,” finally Dumbledore spoke, “I know I don’t have to tell you that the events that happened tonight must remain with us. Now, normally when I say that, it excludes certain friends of yours. But this time Miss Granger, Mr. Potter and Mr. Weasley must not know of this. For Remus’s safety, and yours.”

Hermione smiled. He must have known she would tell them.

“I promise Professor.” Not wanting her questions unanswered she quickly added, “But Professor, What’s wrong with Professor Lupin. It is not the full moon, so he should not be so ill. I don’t understand! If…” she was silenced by Dumbledore who put his hand in the air to stop her.

“That is a good question, and I’m sure you have many more. But tonight is not the time and this is not the proper place.” He gestured to the Great Hall around them, which made Hermione remember where they were. “Now, off to bed. And we will speak about this another day.”

She really couldn’t understand all the secrecy. Something kept bugging at her. Before Lupin passed out, had he said he missed her? Surely it must have been his illness speaking. Why would Lupin miss her? Unless he meant it generally. Yes, she thought to herself. He meant it generally! There is nothing to worry about. Sleep itching at her eyes, she finally put all her thoughts to rest and relaxed. Allowing herself to finally give in, she fell asleep in a matter of moments.

OoOoO

A bright annoying light filled Hermione’s room waking her up from her slumber. It was an unwanted wake up call, but the house elves always drew the curtains from the student’s bed at morning, to avoid over sleeping, and she was used to it.

It had been three days since Hermione had her encounter with Lupin and she was still burning with questions. She took a moment to rest and debated about going down to breakfast, but soon enough curiosity about whether or not her query would be answered today got the better of her. She got out of bed, dressed and made her way down to the Great Hall.

She walked through the hallway, and passed the great oak doors she had been standing in front of a few nights ago. She walked into the Great Hall and took her place at the Gryffindor table next to Ron and across from Harry. Lately, Hermione had been distant to them, and their constant accusations bothered her. But still, they where her good friends and she sat with the none the less.

She looked up at the teacher’s table- scanning the group for Lupin. He was not there, however, which surprised Hermione slightly. It had been three days. Surely his wounds couldn’t have been that bad. She couldn’t help but keep remembering what he said.

I missed you…

Every day now, those words had haunted her, forcing her to finally admit things to her self. She had missed him and even more than that, she had cared for him. She never did dare to tell Ginny about her fondness for her former professor, for fear of what the girl might say. She had once dismissed the affection, calling herself immature and silly. But, ever since Lupin had been missing, her affections returned along with longing and worry. She knew it must have been Order business. Once during the summer before school, Hermione has caught Dumbledore talking to Remus in whispers. That was in June- that was also they day Remus would leave Grimmuald. At first she just thought that it would be regular Order buisness. It wasn’t uncommon for Remus or other Order members to be gone for a week or so, but never a month, and certainly not for many months. It was in September, when school started that Hermione knew something was wrong. He had been gone for three months and without a post or anything to reassure them-and her- that he was okay.

Whenever she would try to question Dumbledore, or any Order members, they suddenly had something very important to attend to. Once, Bill had gotten out of her questioning at the dinner table my making the soup fly out of Harry’s bowl and into Hermione’s face. She didn’t expect them to tell her anything, but she couldn’t help but try.

Her thoughts where interrupted by Ron screaming her name.
“HERMIONE! What is wrong with you? You’ve been staring at the teacher’s table for a while now. Did you not get enough sleep, or have you been writing to Krummy all night?”

She snapped her head back from looking at the teachers table so fast, that she hurt her neck. Muttering a quiet curse she rubbed her neck and spoke to Ron irritably, “No I was studying.” She lied, of course. But they didn’t know that.

Ron laughed at her when she said she had been studying and replied, “Well that’s not a surprise. Hermione, you know reading late at night ruins your beauty sleep. You need to learn when to stop. Harry and I get enough sleep!” Ron sounded proud, and it ticked Hermione off.

“Yes, well maybe if you tried studying for yourself once in a while and NOT relying on some stupid prince fellow, maybe you wouldn’t get sleep too!”

Harry, whose face was looking downwards, redirected his eyes across the table at the young girl. “Hermione,” Harry was aggravated, and tired of having the same argument, but never the less kept challenging her, “We have gone over this before. There is nothing wrong the The Prince! Now will you come off it!”

She raised her eyebrow in a challenging manner and opened her mouth to speak again. Upon seeing her glare, Ron let out a small cough and grabbed Harry’s arm. “Uh, Hermione we have to go do something. Well see you later.” And with that, they left- Ron practically dragging Harry.

He glared her eyes at them leaving, and then turned all of her attention to her meal. Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to eat much, because the post arrived. She wasn’t expecting mail, but still a small tiny owl carrying a letter dropped in front of her. She untied the note, and gave the bird some cereal. Wondering what it could be, she untied the ribbon and unfolded the letter- but not without checking to make sure no one was watching.

The letter contained very tiny script that Hermione recognized instantly.

Dear Miss Granger,
If it is not any trouble for you, I would appreciate your company in my office after breakfast for some tea. Your teachers have been informed about your absence, and you are expected to complete the work you miss. As always, this meeting must remain between us. I will expect you in my office promptly.
Sincerely,
Prof. Albus Dumbledore

She folded up the letter and tucked it away inside her robes safely. After giving the tiny owl a pat, he flew off and she was once again left by herself. She grabbed her books and made her way out of the Great Hall and to Professor Dumbledore’s office.

OoOoO

Hermione was greeted by Professor McGonagall at the gargoyle statue that Dumbledore’s office hid behind. At one time, Prefects knew the passwords to all of the teacher’s offices, but due to the return of Voldemort however, they where now kept secret. McGonagall, eyed Hermione and briskly asked for her to follow her. She said the password quietly so Hermione would not hear, and the once lifeless stone gargoyles animated, and allowed their passage up to the office.

McGonagall led the way and Hermione followed a few steps behind. She knew what this meeting concerned. Remus would be brought up. Her thoughts where racing and her stomach was in knots once she made it to the door. McGonagall opened it, and gestured for Hermione to go in ahead of her. The young girl walked through the threshold, and immediately saw a very familiar figure’s back to her in front of Dumbledore’s desk. The Headmasters eyes gleamed he smiled holding his hand out and indicating for her to come in the room farther.

McGonagall entered and closed the door. After making sure it was locked, she walked over to stand next to Dumbledore. Still, the figure held it’s back to her, it’s hands leaning on Dumbledore’s table. The figure turned around, and Hermione’s speculations where proven true. Remus Lupin turned around, and smiled slightly at Hermione. He had scars on his face, and she once again noticed he had a bit of a beard, but it was him. His eyes gleamed and he smiled wider, noting her surprise. He was still the same height, but he looked slightly thinner, and his eyes shown a new trace of emotion that she couldn’t pinpoint.

Sadness maybe? She thought to herself, but couldn’t be sure.

She stuttered, a started speaking.

“I…uh..umm.” She cursed herself for not being able to make coherent sentences. She took a breath, and tried calming down a bit. After a moment of regaining composure she started again- seeing amusement in his face on how she couldn’t speak.

“Pro…Professor Lupin? Is…is that really you?”

He laughed slightly, and leaned on Dumbledore’s desk raising his hands about himself and said, “In the flesh, my dear Hermione. Where you expecting someone else? Perhaps Professor Snape.”

“No...” she said answering the first statement, and then realizing the second one added another hasty and loud no, causing Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall to snicker. Remus laughed, and reached for the teacups. While handing one to Hermione he added with a chuckle, “I though as much.”

She took the teacup, and looked at the amber liquid and frowned slightly. She couldn’t believe it. Remus was here. All those nights of worrying, all those dreams- and now she knew he was okay. She couldn’t help it as her emotions began to take control of her. She sobbed slightly, and kept looking down at the tea, determined not to let them see her cry.

She spoke still trying to hold back her sobs, “I was so worried. I..thought…six months…” she started to get hysteric and her tears flowed out of her. She dropped her cup and fell to the floor on her knees, still crying. She heard a clang and the sound of a chair being pushed back, and soon felt strong arms grasp her.

Remus, had knelt to the floor and was holding his arms around her, comforting her. She sobbed even harder at the reality of this all, and she hugged him back. He cradled her slightly and she inhaled his scent. He smelled of books and chocolate. Two things Hermione loved. He spoke in her ear softly,

“It’s okay. I’m back.”

She smiled and nuzzled her face in his neck. They stayed like that, with Remus slightly rocking her, until she felt as if she could cry no more. He released her and she wiped her face with her sleeve and smiled. Looking into each others eyes smiling, Hermione almost completely forgot about Dumbledore and McGonagall. Until she heard a very Umbridge like hem hem, causing both Remus and Hermione to jump slightly. Apparently she wasn’t the only one who forgot about were they where. Hermione looked up and saw that Dumbledore was smiling, and McGonagall had a look of death towards Remus.

Remus helped Hermione up, and into a chair, and took back his original position of leaning in front of Dumbledore’s desk.

“Well, now,” Dumbledore said pleasantly, “Time to get down to business.”

OoOoO

Ooohhh-don’t cha hate those endings. Lol. Hope you guys liked it. I look forward to your reviews and critique.

Stealing Away

Stealing Away
~Sometimes, only a moment be enough to last forever~

Part I- So we meet again.

The snow came fast like a silent killer in the night, and she wasn’t surprised when she awoke in the middle of the night and looked out the window, only to find the grounds of Hogwarts completely covered in the powdery substance. She sighed, got out of bed, grabbed her wand and her book and sat on the windowsill. Softly, as to not awake her dorm-mates she lit her wand and began reading at the window.

Suddenly, she heard a loud crack outside. She dropped her book and looked out the window, searching for whatever made the noise. At first, all seemed still outside except for the snow falling. She squint her eyes, trying to make out a figure amidst the blur of the snow. She stared out for a few minutes until finally deciding that the noise was part of her imagination. But then, she heard the crack again, and a figure emerged from the Forbidden Forrest. Only an inky black blur to her eyes, the figure for a split second spilled into the light that emitted from Hagrid’s cabin. Even though his back was turned to Hermione’s room, she could still decipher the gender-though barley through the foggy windows. It was a male.

He turned, and she noticed that his robes where tatty, and barley hanging on his body. He began walking toward the school, giving Hermione a better view of him and allowing her to notice a slight limp. His hair clung to his wet forehead. The snow was falling on him, but he ignored it. His pace was steady and he walked with his arms crossed over his chest, as if it might warm him just a little. She knew he must be freezing and she didn’t understand why someone would be walking up to Hogwarts this late at night. Swiftly, he stopped and Hermione couldn’t help but get the feeling that something was wrong.

I must go wake the Headmaster.

But she stayed put, her heart thudding, and went on gazing onto the grounds as if the stranger’s stillness had infected her. Suddenly, he turned his head and Hermione thought that he was looking straight into her eyes. She shot off the windowsill and ran to Professor Dumbledore’s room. She was turned the corner of the hall so fast that she didn’t even see the figure standing around the other end until she had crashed into it. Uttering a small curse, she stood to her feat and put out her hand to help the person she crashed into. She couldn’t help but be surprised when she looked into the ice blue eyes or the person she had been looking for. Dumbledore. Quickly saying another apology, she helped the Professor to his feat.

“Miss. Granger,” he said quietly putting his wand up higher so the light could fall on her face, “To what do I owe the pleasure on this fine evening.”

She considered for a moment about not telling him, but within moments decided that was a bad idea and blurted out, “Saw…someone…outside my window. Walking…towards the school.” Dumbledore merely smiled and put his hand on Hermione’s back gesturing her to follow him. She did, and together they made their way to the main doors by the great hall.

Hermione was relieved when she saw the great oak main doors and she was able to catch her breath. Dumbledore was tall and his pace was quick. It took Hermione almost three of her steps to catch up with him, and already tired after running to get him, she needed to catch her breath. Dumbledore raised his wand and uttered the charms to light the hall and unlock the doors. Hermione couldn’t help but wonder why Dumbledore was being so calm. Wasn’t he concerned? Wasn’t he confused? Why was he already there, as if he knew he would meet her? A hundred questions, and not enough time to get the answered.

Her thoughts where interrupted when she heard the loud screech of the doors opening. At first all seemed still outside except for the snow falling. But then footsteps approached the door and a man emerged from the darkness of the grounds, his shabby robes soaked from the snow, clinging to his legs.

Remus Lupin wiped his face with one of his wet hands and offered Dumbledore his other before turning to Hermione and smiling. He put his arms on her shoulders and gave them a slight squeeze.

“Good evening Hermione, hope I didn’t wake you.”

“No, Professor. I was awake. You just startled me.”

She smiled slightly, at his relieved face. It had been almost six months since she had last seen him, he hadn’t changed drastically although he had grown a bit of a beard.

“Good. I was worried that I would have scared you a bit. I’ve missed yo….”

And with that, his legs gave away and he fell on top of Hermione and passed out.

~*~

End part one. As always, reviews are really appreciated.

The picture that this story is base upon can be found-

Latley, the world has been obcessed with the Harajuku fashion-which is ok by me. But I have talked with a few people who seem quite confused with the concept. Harajuku- is not just a fashion- its a place....a train stop to be correct. But on every Sunday, Harajuku station is transformed.

For youth culture Japan - "cool" and "cute"- Harajuku, just north of Shibuya, is the number one fashionable, fun, faddish, ridiculous, crazy "crib" to "chill out". Come along on a Sunday and you'll see it all! Harajuku is even starting to branch out, and you can find teens wearing Harajuku style in many other places.

Harajuku first burst onto the scene in 1964 - the Olympic year. With the Olympic gymnasium and village located nearby, the prospect of meeting somebody famous in the street drew people from far and wide. Today, the area includes Takshita Street, Meiji Dori Avenue and Omotesando Dori Avenue.

Takeshita Dori Street is opposite the Takeshita Dori Exit of Harajuku Station. Here, shops sell a most extraordinary blend of goods reflecting the Japanese notions of "cute", "cool and American" and "rebellious and British". In other words a strange mixture of Hello Kitty, hip-hop and the infamous British punk, and some fancy dress clothes.

On a Sunday, Omotesando Dori Avenue is littered with street performers. Look out for the resident Rockerbilly Group. At the end of Omotesando Dori Avenue, you'll find Aoyama, a stylish area full of expensive shops and boutiques.

So, what is it about Harajuku that makes the style so.amazing? Its the daring, bold, cute, fun, ill wear what I want even if it doesnt match style, that Americans just cant seem to do. Fashion in Japan is exciting, fast, eye popping and thought provoking. Japan's young are having a party right now with the world's attention waiting eagerly for inspiration. I love fashion, and to me it makes sense to be involved in Japan's style because it's the brightest canvas for expression. So, take a look at some fashion, and be inspired. Maybe now, youll have the courage to try something different! It is impartant to let you know that none of these people are models. They are just regular people, most out shopping, or hanging around.

Just follow the links!

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b136/honkeytonkwoman/smallpals.jpg

hehe cute hara couple

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b136/honkeytonkwoman/japanteen.jpg

You gotta love that tie!

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b136/honkeytonkwoman/fashion.jpg

Group of friends at the station on a sunday--most likley.
The greatness of Inkheart

    <lj:music>Coldplay- "Speed of Sound"</lj:music>

"If you take a book with you on a journey... an odd thing happens: The book begins collecting your memories. And forever after you have only to open that book to be back where you first read it. It will all come into your mind with the very first words: the sights you saw in that place, what it smelled like, the ice cream you ate while you were reading it. .. yes, books are like flypaper- memories cling to the printed page better than anything else." -Mo from Inkheart by: Cornelia Funke

That is so true! Damn, this is such a great book. It obviously can't compare to Harry Potter of LOTR, but, its one of thoes books that make you think. It really compare it to Usula K. LeGuin and Christopher Paolini. I have to say, Funke is making her way into being another one of my favorite writers.

Inkheart is a book about books, a celebration of and a warning about books. The "Inkheart" of the title is a book. I don't think I've ever read anything that conveys so well the joys, terrors and pitfalls of reading. Each chapter is headed by a quotation from a classic - Peter Pan, The BFG, The Wind in the Willows, The Hobbit and many more - which, in the traditional way of such quotes, often has little to do with the subject of the chapter. The headings work more as a rich sample of the books that lie behind Inkheart.

The basic, bookish idea is that Meggie's father Mo (often called Silvertongue) can, by reading aloud, fetch characters from a book through into the real world. Unfortunately, a living being is always transferred into the book at the same time. Nine years back, Mo read aloud from Fenoglio's Inkheart and unintentionally fetched all the baddies into reality, causing Meggie's mother to disappear into the book. The story opens with Meggie discovering this through the arrival of the unhappy trickster-figure, Dustfinger.
At this stage, you feel an enormous prospect opening up, promising marvels. Cornelia Funke seems to have a gift for this: her previous, award-winning novel, The Thief Lord , opened up similarly towards its end. But this time I am not sure the promise is quite fulfilled, though the story is undeniably exciting.

Told in harsh, jolting sentences - which may be partly due to the translation from the original German - the novel relates how the villainous Basta and his horrible boss, Capricorn, appear, kidnap Mo, and are tracked to their hideout in a ruined Italian village. The trouble is that the villains are two-dimensional characters. I felt about them as I used to feel about the pirates in Treasure Island - a book frequently mentioned in Inkheart - "Oh, they're only characters in a book!" This would, of course, be entirely appropriate if the rest of the characters seemed any more real. But they don't. The writer Fenoglio and his grandchildren never come alive. Mo is merely a collec tion of attributes and Meggie, the heroine, wobbles between spunkiness and helpless blankness.

The only one who seems a solid being is the irascible, book-loving Elinor, and she does rather show the rest of them up. Elinor helps the others rescue Mo, and they go off looking for the writer of Inkheart, whereupon the story becomes circular and repetitive. This must be deliberate. At this point everyone - not only the unreliable Dustfinger - makes a promise they can't fulfil, goes back on their word, or lets the rest down. Is Funke trying to convey that, faced with actual evil outside a book, people do not behave heroically? Or that books make things seem too easy? I think so. The story fills with pointed contrasts between reality and fiction. Farid, the boy transported from the Arabian Nights , much prefers modern Italy to his previous fictional life. Fenoglio turns out to be pleased with his invented villains and does not understand that they might be a menace.

You get only tantalising glimpses of the book Fenoglio wrote (I suppose it is too much to expect Funke to write both books at once), but you gather that there are fairies, trolls, dire beasts and magic in it. When the villains are at last defeated and the denizens of the book tumble through into reality, it is quite disappointing to find them gaudy, small and trivial. Is Funke saying that, while books as books are wonderful, real life has a solid sort of grimness that renders make-believe flimsy? Or is she pleading with us to mix at least a little fantasy with our reality? I don't know. Inkheart leaves you asking such questions. And this is, to my mind, an important thing for a story to do.

I'm really looking forward to Inkspell, the second part of this trilogy. The problem is, I purchased Inkheart in paperback form, and I have to wait to get it in softcover. Damnit!!!!! :).

Anyway- I wrote some really awsome quotes down, but I'm too tired to post them, so i'll do it later. Take Care!

May Your swords stay sharp, and your wits about you!

Well, i just recentley (like yesterday) bought a book called Inkheart by Cornilea Funke Im im glad i did. I read one of her books before and liked it, but this one i just loved. And it inspired me to get more writing done. Since Sunday i'm leaving to go to the shore (and im totally going to be bored!) Im going to bring my lap top and pull out a new story. Its obviously going to be Remus/Hermione (althought last night, i had to bring out a notebook and pen and jot a few lines and descriptions down for a new ginny/draco fic. Im sure it would have been a site to see, me waking up from sleeping at 3:37 in the morning, jumping out of bed and ravaging around for a notebook and a pen!)I'm not sure why, but i enjoy reading Ginny/Draco more than I enjoy writing it- I dont know, im just fickle. :). But, uh-yea back to the shore. Since i can't sleep at night to begin with, ill just write. SOUND GOOD?

Oh, Im quite pleased that they finally showed a slytherin in the GOF. Its Malfoy and Krum at the slytherin table in the great hall.

Im thinking about writing a sequel to my fic Come Back to Me-not sure.
oh well- im heading out to the tatoo parlor.
bye

Not a happy Harry Potter fan...

Well, I just swung over to www.slytherin-net.com and I noticed that they had put up the new GOF trailer that was on EXTRA TV. Saddly no slytherins where shown...again, but I was happy to at least get a better look at the casting. So all was fine- the trailer was looking great and I thought the movie was going to be pretty cool. Until, that is, the part where they show after the death eaters are at the world cup. I finally got a look at Mad Eye Moody. I was quite displeased. Also i heard that Dobby and Winky have been cut out of the movie!!! GRRR! On the other hand, however, I understand how hard it is-especially in Harry Potter- to cast a person that hopefully resembles that character. But still...ugh! So-I went picture searching and I found some new ones that im posting up. images from: http://www.harrypotterspage.com/

the first one- Harry, Ron and Hermione at the World Cup when they first see the Dark Mark- (Im guessing that because of their faces.)

Next-The Gryffindor common room- Harry is trying to figure out the egg.

Ron and Hermione at...i have no clue where.

The last challenge-the maze.

Rita Skiter and her assistant....I think possibly at the weighing of the wands.

The winter ball- cant wait for that one!

Harry and Parvati--she looks quite different than from the other movies...hmmmm (course you see her back!)

Cho Chang (YAY IM PLEASED!!!)

Cedric Diggory...(eh, a little less pleased. Okay-when the gaurd goes to pick up Harry--and Moddy comes in with Remus...and he starts kinda doubting that Harry is Harry-and then Remus asks what form his patronus takes...can anyone else get imagry at that scene??? Now i adore david (remus) but I just can't picture him all buddy buddy with moody.

ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alright, ill stop complaining now...but still. I couldnt find a madame maxime pic...nor karkaroff. And i have yet to see any slytherin students in there at all. Also i have a few guesses:
1-) Since they budget/time cut out Dobby and Winkey...my guess is that they wont show Oliver at the cup. *pout* I wanted to see sean biggerstaff again!
2-) The Hagrid and Maxime thing wont happen...i dont know what makes me think that I just do.
3-) *sob sob* they wont be showing lots of Draco!!! NOOOO!!!!! (well, i guess lots of Krum -hehe-makes up for that)
4-)You wont see fred and george with beards.... :(

Some of these guesses, are kinda just pulled at my head...but i think they are relative guesses.
grr, o well. What are ya gonna do?
Anywho- thats why i wasnt a very happy Harry Potter fangirl this morning.

Title: Another Reason.
Rated: G
Summary: The beginning events of COS in Diagon Alley from Draco’s POV. Mainly, of when he first sees Ginny.
Note: heh- idea came to me last night- it’s not the best thing I’ve written, but I’m semi pleased with it.

~*~*~

When Lucius Malfoy told his son Draco that he was to come with him on an errand to Diagon Alley, Draco was less than pleased, and as always his opinion was stated-rather loudly.

“But Father,” Draco retorted becoming quite angry, “I don’t want to go to Diagon Alley! It’s so boring, I’d rather stay home.”

Lucius’ eyes flashed and he grabbed Draco’s cuff, pulling the boy closer to him violently.

“And I would rather NOT to hear to complain, boy!” Lucius leered at him, “If you shut up and behave I’ll buy you a new broom.”

Draco smiled, his father always would try to shut Draco up by buying him something. Draco looked at his father expectantly, waiting for his grip to be released.

“And” he added, “If your grades do not improve,” he started icily, “you WILL wish you haven’t been born.”

Lucius released Draco and straightened his cloak out and ran his fingers through his blonde hair, fixing himself and regaining composure. His gazed darted back at Draco and he stared sharply. “You will uphold the family name Draco, and that includes a reputation at school. Now come along,” his tone became calmer, “we are heading to Borgin and Burkes.”

~*~*~

It wasn’t hard for Draco to admit that he enjoyed going to Borgin and Burkes. It was amusing to see his father taunt the shop owner Mr. Borgin and the objects in the shop were really quite fascinating. He followed his father into the shop and up to the counter, where Lucius rang the bell. Draco began examining a glass eye when his father turned around and glared at him.

“Touch nothing, Draco.”

“I thought you where going to buy me a present.” Draco was determined not to let his father forget their ‘deal’.

“I said” Lucius drawled drumming his hands on the counter, “that I would buy you a racing broom.”

Draco’s thought immediately went to Harry Potter and his temper slowly began stirring.

“What’s the good if I’m not on the house team?” he started, “Harry Potter got a Numbus Two Thousand last year. Special permission from Dumbledore so he could play for Gryffindor. It’s just because he’s famous…famous for having a stupid scar on his forehead…”

Oh how Draco hated Harry Potter. He couldn’t even count the reasons why there where so many. St. Potter….he though acidly to himself…we’ll see who turns out better this year.

~*~*~

After their time at Borgin and Burkes Lucius steered Draco out of Knockturn Alley and into the book store Flourish and Blotts. The place was jam packed with Hogwarts students and females and Draco only had to look at a sign to understand why.

Gilderoy Lockheart
Will be signing copies of his autobiography
Magical Me
Today 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Great, Draco thought to himself, it had to be today of all days.

Draco and Lucius nearly had to push people out of the way to get through. Not that either of them minded, it was just bothersome and Draco really wasn’t in the mood. They had finally made their way up into the second floor of the shop on the balcony where they could overlook everyone.

“I’m going to look around for a few things, behave.” And with that said, Lucius turned around and stalked off leaving Draco by himself. He sighed and soon heard loud clapping as Gilderoy Lockheart stepped out of a room, and sat down at a desk.

“Out of the way, there! This is for the Daily Prophet-“ Lockheart smiled, and Draco saw a loud flash of light. Suddenly Lockheart leapt to his feet and shouted, “It can’t be Harry Potter?”

The crowed parted, and to Draco’s displeasure, Harry Potter was revealed along with the Weasleys and Granger. Draco’s eyes surveyed the group and his eyes landed on a young girl with red hair holding a cauldron. A female Weasley? He thought to himself. He didn’t remember hearing about her. She was smiling and laughing and talking to that idiot brother of hers. There wasn’t anything in particular that was attractive about her, but Draco couldn’t help staring. Her smile was radiant. It lit up her face and eyes. She looked to be about a year younger that himself and although Draco always made fun of the red haired family, he couldn’t help but think how she brilliantly resembled fire. This could be interesting.

Draco’s gaze became steeley as watched Lockheart announced that he would be the new Defence against the Dark Arts teacher, and that he was proud to teach Potter. The crowed cheered and Lockheart gave Potter the entire works of his written collection. Potter, followed by the Weasleys, were shoved away from Lockheart by the crowed of raving women. Draco quickly walked down the second level stairs right in time to meet face to face with Potter. Time to play with fire. He thought to himself.

“Bet you loved that, didn’t you, Potter?” he sneered and he watched Potter register who was speaking.

“Famous Harry Potter,” Draco was having fun with this one, “Can’t even go into a bookstore without making the front page.”

Then something surprised Draco. It wasn’t Potter who spoke, but the female Weasley, who had stepped in front of Potter defensively.

“Leave him alone, he didn’t want all that!” and with that said she glared at him.

Draco couldn’t believe it. SHE glared and HIM. The little firecat actually had the gall to step up and make a comment to him. It was obvious to Draco by her actions that she like Harry, and by the look on her face, she wasn’t about to stand down either. Well, if she wouldn’t stand down, Draco would make her.

He smirked and drawled out “Potter, you’ve got yourself a girlfriend!”

It worked. The girl became scarlet with embarrassment and she slowly hid behind her brother. At the same time Draco noticed something in Potter’s eyes, which he believed to be surprise. So the idiot didn’t realize that she fancied him!

Suddenly, Draco felt a hand firmly grasp his shoulder. He recognized the gloves…it was his father.

“Now, now, Draco. Play nicely.” Lucius moved next to Draco and eyed Harry Potter.
What was his father up to? Draco took a chance glance at the female Weasley and saw that she was still slightly red in the face.

“Mr. Potter” Lucius began slow menacing tone as he held out his hand for Potter to shake it, “Lucius Malfoy. We meet at last.” Potter took the older Malfoy’s hand and as soon as they touched, Lucius pulled Potter towards him. Draco wasn’t stupid, he knew what his father was up to.

“Forgive me” Lucius started as he glared at the boy and pushed his hair back. “You scar is s legend. As of course is the wizard who gave it to you.”

It was then that Potter spoke, “Voldemort killed my parents.” Draco noticed his father’s eyebrow twitched slightly at the mention of the Dark Lords name. “He was nothing more than a murderer.” Potter finished, and Draco was quite sure that his father wanted to kill him, for Lucius held a gaze at Harry that couldn’t mean anything less.

He let go of Harry and fixated his gaze at the Weasleys. He moved to the female one and Draco suddenly became angry at his father. He grabbed a book out of her cauldron, “You must be the Weasleys.” Suddenly Draco noticed a man with balding red hair- Mr. Weasley.

Mr. Weasley walked up to the female one and put his arm around her shoulder. “Children, let’s get out of here.” He looked at the group and noticed Draco and Lucius. Immediatley Mr. Weasleys face changed and hardened. His father started talking to Mr. Weasley, but Draco just zoned out. He couldn’t stop staring at the female Weasley. Who in Merlin’s name was she. By the time Draco rezoned in, he saw his father drop the book back into the girl’s cauldron and she blushed furiously.

Lucius then moved closer to Mr. Malfoy and glared at if he was the most disgusting thing ever then said as if it was a threat “I’ll see you at work.”

Draco understood that this was the time to leave and he watched his father turn his back to the group and walk away. Draco looked at Potter and mimicked his father’s response. “I’ll see you at school.” He glared at the female Weasley and smirked as Potter moved in front of her. He raised his eyebrow, sneered, and walked away.

So the female Weasley likes Potter. Draco sighed slowly. He would have to change that.

Oh well, he thought to himself, Another reason to hate Potter.

Come Back To me

Come back to me

If you wait for me

Then I’ll come for you.

Although I’ve traveled far,

I always hold a place for you in my heart.

If you think of me,

If you miss me once in a while,

Then I’ll return to you.

I’ll return and fill that place in your heart.

-- Unknown

Desperate to find sleep, 23 year old Hermione Granger tossed in bed for what seemed like to be hours. She wasn’t sure if it was the abnormal heat or the absence of someone in the bed next to her; but either way the bed seemed achingly large without its other occupant there.

Finally, frustrated at her inability to sleep, Hermione surrendered to the forces, got out of bed and headed for the living room, hoping that there would be something on television that would eventually bore her to sleep. “Perhaps the tree channel,” she laughed inwardly. Sadly there was no tree channel, and Hermione settled to watching a muggle reality show.

The presence of a muggle appliance such as a T.V. was quite odd inside of a wizarding household, but Hermione sometimes missed the objects of the muggle world that she grew up with. When she brought the T.V. home, she was quite surprised to find out that Remus knew what it was. Apparently he was quite familiar with objects of the muggle world. “One more reason to love him”, she thought to herself and sighed. Struggling to get her mind off of the fact that her wasn’t with her, Hermione returned to her T.V. show. But as the end credits rolled up the T.V. screen and the theme music started to play, she was brought back fully to the reality of the empty apartment and the absence of Remus. Trying to do everything possible to not think of Remus, Hermione grabbed a chocolate frog from the table and began eating it. Chocolate was always avaible in their household, Remus made that a point, but Hermione rarely ate it.

It has been 5 years now since they started dating. Their infatuation for each other however, had been present since Hermione met him during her 3rd year of Hogwarts. Of course propriety had always been an issue for the both of them, so they waited until Hermione graduated before they openly dated.

She remembered how everyone reacted when she told them. Mrs. Weasley screamed and Mr. Weasley punch Remus, Harry was dumbfounded and Ron believed it to be a joke. She and Remus ensured everyone that it certainly wasn’t a joke. Everyone but Ginny, whom Hermione often went to talk to for her problems, weren’t to happy Hermione and Remus established a relationship. Hermione was so furious that they didn’t except it, that she ran out of the burrow bursting with rage induced tears with Ginny and Remus tailing behind her.. Remus and Ginny assured her that they would come around and accept it.

They were right. Two years passed and Hermione finally received a card at Christmas from Mr. and Mrs. Weasley which stated, “Wishing you, Hermione and Remus, a happy holiday.” That year, Hermione and Remus would one again be welcomed to the Burrow, and Christmas would be spent together with the whole family. Happy times lasted, but not for long.

News of Voldemort’s once again resurrection spread throughout the wizarding world, and Remus set off to battle along with what was left of the Order-minus Mrs. Weasley- and Ron and Harry. Hermione never cried so much before. But now they were gone- off fighting to protect everyone. “Yea,” she thought to herself, “They went to protect you! Remus went to protect you! You shouldn’t be so upset! They’ll come back! He’ll come back!” At least that’s what she’s been telling herself for the past two years since they left. Two years without an owl, a phone call- though highly unlikely-but still possible, a muggle post, or a floo transmit! Two years of nothing! Mrs. Weasley and Ginny told her that it was because they were probably trying to be cautious and that they were sure Remus missed her as much as she missed him. She started getting nightmares after a few months. Ginny, who was quite used to nightmares herself and knew how they effected someone, told Mrs. Weasley. Mrs. Weasley made Hermione a dreamless draught in quantity, which Hermione regularly took to fight away the countless nightmares of Remus dying.

Hermione shook the tears away from her eyes that were starting to form unable to cope with the thought of Remus dead. She distracted herself by looking at the clock. “Ugh! Almost 2:30! I really should get to sleep or else I won’t wake up tomorrow.” Determined to get to sleep, Hermione returned to the bedroom to once again fight to force that kept her from slumber, leaving the chocolate frog wrapper on the table. She made it to the bed and pulled off the duvet cover, she wasn’t sure why she still had it on her bed, seeing how it was the middle of summer. For some reason, she felt safer with it there anyway. After a few minutes, she tossed and turned, once again unable to sleep due to the lack of someone next to her. She missed him so much, his strong arms wrapped around her while she slept, the feel of his breath on her neck, his hands tangled in her hair. Her body exhausted, sleep finally took over her. But not without allowing a tear slowly fall from her eye lids to her cheek.

Remus Lupin, exhausted, tried his hardest to unlock the door to his house as quiet as possible, so not to scare the preciousness it held inside. Once inside, he made his way through the living room stopping by the sofa and picked up a wrapper. He smiled “Hermione must have eaten a chocolate frog. Unusual, she doesn’t normally eat chocolate.”

He threw the wrapper out and went into the bedroom. He almost collapsed when he layed eyes on the bed. Laying there, sleeping peacefully was the love of his life. She always possessed a serene look while sleeping. He noticed a wet streak going from her eye down her cheek. “She was crying! Damn it!” Unable to wait any longer, he kneeled on the bed and put his hand on her shoulder. He kissed her forehead gently and quietly whispered her name in her ear. She stirred and slowly opened her eyes; eyes the color of chocolate.

“Hey ‘Mione, I’m home hun.” Remus said quietly while smiling.

Hermione’s eyes began welling with tears.

“Remus?” she said in suprise and disbelief, “Is it really you?”

Remus couldn’t help but laugh. “Yes darling,” he took her in his arms and hugged her as if he would never see her again, “I’m home.”

He felt her smile through his clothes and couldn’t help but squeeze her tighter. He was back, and wasn’t about to let her go anytime soon. He kissed the crown of her her head, then put his finger under her chin to coax her head up to look at him. Remus noticed how tired she looked, yet could see relief and love in her eyes.

Hermione choked with tears, “I missed you so much Remus!” she kissed him. Her arms entwined around his neck, her hands in his hair, as if checking to make sure he wasn’t a mirage. They broke apart and Remus smiled.

“I missed you to.” He said softly before laying down next to her and reclaimed her lips with his.

Hermione had no nightmares that night. When she woke up, she woke up to a strong arm around her side. It took a moment for last nights events to collect in her mind. She smiled, realizing that Remus wasn’t going anywhere, and slowly drifted off back to sleep.

The End…

(I dont own Harry Potter or the song mr brightside)

Coming out of my cage

And I've been doin' just fine

Gotta gotta be down

Because I want it all

Remus Lupin was attempting to once again teach his 7th year Defense Against the Dark Art’s class but his eyes kept wandering to where he saw them. “Concentrate you bloody old werewolf! Honestly!” he once again told himself but his eyes wandered anyways. Hermione, HIS Hermione, sitting with Ron and Ron with his hands all over her. Why, oh why, did Hermione have to pretend to go out with Ron. It could have been any other person, in any other of his classes. “No! She had to go and pick someone she shared his classes with. Is she trying to get that boy killed?” Surely Hermione would have known Remus would be jealous!

Remus was having quite a hard time keeping his wolfish side down, which, at the moment, wanted to maul Ron half to death for touching his Hermione. Remus watched Ron stare at Hermione as she walked up to his desk carrying what appeared to be last night’s homework. He let out a low growl as she handed him the papers.

“Miss. Granger,” he stated attempting not to show how flustered he was, “May I have a world with you?” he asked. “Outside.” He added with another low growl.

She smiled at him, “Certainly, Professor.”

He nearly leapt out of his chair when he heard the reply, and started walking to the door.

Now they're going to bed

And my stomach is sick

And it's all in my head

But she's touching his chest now

He takes off her dress now

Let me go

And I just can't look

It's killing me

And taking control

> > > > > > >

Once outside Hermione noted how Remus’s frustration could plainly be seen. Still keeping with the act Hermione asked in a very innocent manner, “What did you need Professor?” Lupin, who was quite tired of the whole fake formality, clearly was ready to kill someone, and that someone was Ron.

“Damn it Hermione! What are you trying to do to me?”

“Remus,” she replied patiently, “I’m sorry, but I have to keep up with the whole Ron thing. This is only for a little while I promise.” She took his face in her hands. “Please Remus,” tears were threatening to come through her eyes. “Bear with it for a little while longer.”

Hermione could see the bitterness in Remus’s eyes when he thought about her with Ron. She smiled and added, “For me?”

Remus gave in. “Hermione, I swear, if he keeps ogling you I’m going to rip his eyes out!”

Hermione laughed, “I love you, too!” she kissed him on the cheek and started walking back towards the classroom. “Oh!” she said suddenly and stopped. “Are you free tonight?” she asked with a mischievous smile.

Remus smiled, knowing what was on her mind, the werewolf in him wanting to come out and take her in the middle of the hall. “For you, my love, I’m free for an eternity.” Suddenly the bell rang for dinner, and with that they receded into the classroom, Remus still wanting to rip Ron’s throat apart, but feeling slightly better.

> > > > > > >

Rather than going to dinner and being forced to witness Ron’s display’s of affection towards Hermione, Remus decided to go to his room and await for her to come.

He made his way to his room and spoke the password that only he and Hermione knew. Once inside his room, he threw his briefcase on the floor, and made his way to his bed. He sat down and placed his head in his hands. “This girl, is going to be the death of me.” He said simply out loud to himself.

He sighed, walked to the door to grab his briefcase, and began grading papers. “Anything to pass the time,” he said to himself as he looked at the clock. Noticing the time he sighed, “Four and a half hours to kill,” he thought to himself as he grabbed the first paper and started checking answers.

> > > > > > >

About three hours later Remus was almost completely through grading the 4th year midterm papers. Remus looked about the room for no particular reason, hoping to see something he could occupy himself with until Hermione came in 1 hours, 20 minutes, and fifteen…fourteen…thirteen seconds. His attention was brought to a picture on his bedside table he picked it up and looked at it fondly.

It was him, and Hermione at Number 12 Grimmuald Place. Hermione looked beautiful, with small flowers in her hair. The Remus in the picture kept twirling her about the kitchen, and the picture Hermione was laughing and smiling. That was the only picture he had of them together. That year…was the year he and Hermione finally realized their feeling toward eachother.

> > > > > > >

It started out with a kiss

How did it end up like this?

It was only a kiss

It was only a kiss

It was summer at Number 12 Grimmuald Place and everyone left for a day of shopping and relaxation at Diagon Alley. To everyones displeasure, Hermione had decided to stay home to get some reading done.

“Hermione,” Ron stated in protest, “It’s summer! Can’t you put the books down for once and have fun with us all?”

Hermione, who was becoming impatient, told Ron that she was behind on some work and pushed him out the door. Sighing with relief she grabbed her book and nestled herself in a comfy position on the sofa and began reading. Secretly, although she would never admit it to anyone, Hermione didn’t really like the hustle and bustle of Diagon Alley, she preferred staying at home and relaxing.

Under the impression that she was alone, Hermione was quite startled when she heard footsteps coming down the stairs, a loud bang of something dropping-perhaps the troll leg umbrella stand she thought to herself- and the horrible squeals and insults of Mrs. Black.

“FILTY HALFBREED! WEREWOLF DISGRACE! TRETOUROUS BEAST! HOW DARE YOU INFECT THE NOBLE AND ANCIENT HOUSE OF BLACK!”

Hermione couldn’t help but giggle. “Werewolf disgrace, huh? That can only mean one person,” she thought to herself.

As quick as the insults started, they died down, and sure enough a very sleepy looking Remus Lupin walked down the rest of the steps, muttering something that sounded awfully like, “Damn old bat.” Hermione smiled and turned around resting her chin on the back of the sofa and watched Remus as he grabbed a coffee mug and began pouring the black liquid into the cup. Hermione did a very Professor Umbridge hem hem to get Remus’s attention to the fact that she was there. Startled at the cough, Remus turned around in surprise almost dropping his coffee. Remus noticed Hermione, and smiled a very childlike grin and grabbed another mug and bean pouring a second cup of coffee.

“I was under the impression I was alone, but I’ll enjoy your company otherwise.” He walked over and handed Hermione a cup from his hand.

“Likewise.” She said with a little trace of humor in her voice.

Remus frowned, “Hermione, what keeps you here? I was under the impression that everyone had left for Diagon Alley.”

“Yea,” Hermione said nervously, “I don’t really fancy Diagon Alley too much. I would much rather stay at home by myself and read.” Hoping that Remus wouldn’t think she didn’t enjoy his company, Hermione changed the subject. “What about you, Professor?”

“Remus, please Hermione. And I had decided to sleep in late. I have the day off, and sometimes laziness is called for. Besides, I haven’t been sleeping to well to begin with.”

“Yea, well…”Hermione began fiddling with the cup, as she was searching for the words to say, “I don’t think anyone gets much sleep anymore. Not since he’s been gone.”

Hermione looked down, making sure her hair covered her eyes. Suddenly, Remus noticed that she, too, missed Sirius as much as he did. Suddenly Remus realized something, “That’s why she’s here. She misses Siruis. She’s still adjusting.”

He looked down at his hands, trying to figure out how to keep this from becoming an akward situation. Suddenly, Remus heard sniffling and looked up to find silent tears streaming from Hermione’s brilliant chocolate eyes. She forced a smile, obviously not wanting him to worry about her.

“I’m sorry,” She said trying to dismiss her tears, “It’s just…this house feels empty with out him around. Everyone is so miserable and it’s unbearable. Harry hardly speaks anymore, and if I see Mrs. Weasley try to ignore the fact that Sirius is gone one more day I’m going to flip.”

She wiped her eyes in an effort to clear her tears. Remus realized how much he wanted to make her smile again, to tell her it was going to be alright, to chase away her tears. He put his arm around her allowing her to lean her head on his shoulder and cry onto it, trying to give her a feeling of comfort. After a few silent moments, that felt like hours, Hermione looked up into his eyes and smiled.

“Thank you,” she said quietly, “and sorry.”

Remus frowned, “Sorry for what?”

Hermione’s eyes lightened a little, “For crying all over you and messing up your shirt.”

Remus laughed, amused at the fact that only Hermione would apologize after crying on someone. He took the cup from her hands, and placed it on the table next to his. Remus put his hands on Hermione’s.

“Hermione,” Remus replied in a calm tone, “I think I should be the one to apologize and say sorry.”

“Sorry?” Hermione said slightly giggling. Confusion swept over her face and she laughed as if he were crazy. “Sorry for what Rem-”

She was cut off when Remus gently kissed her on the lips. It was short, and completely innocent, yet Hermione couldn’t help but flush. Remus moved forward and slowly planted a kiss on Hermione’s forehead. He framed her face with his hands and looked into her eyes.

“I’m sorry for falling in love with you,” he stated quietly.

They kissed again, but this time, to Remus’s surprise it wasn’t he who initiated it, but Hermione. They broke only for the need of air, their faces a mere inch or so apart. Taking advantage of the silence, Hermione spoke.

“Remus, I…I think I love you.” Remus smiled at Hermione, and noticed how completely angelic she looked.

He laughed and replied, “Well, now that we’re on the same page...” he claimed her lips in another passionate kiss, his hands tangled in her hair, her arms around his neck.

> > > > > > >

Jealousy

Turning saints into the sea

Swimming through sick lullabies

Choking on your alibis

But it's just the price I pay

Destiny is calling me

Open up my eager eyes

Cus i'm Mr. Brightside

Remus smiled, putting the picture back. Helooked at the clock, it was now almost 10:30. Hermione should be here soon. Remus paced busily about the room, stopping every now and again to check the clock. Every time he did so, his eyes would lower in worry and a soft sigh would escape from his lips. Remus’s ears kept straining to hear the faint sound of the door opening quietly, but were only discouraged by the disturbing serenity. At every soft shuffle his eyes would dart over to the door.

Suddenly, a soft voice muttering the password was heard. Remus’s heart gave a leap and a very familiar figure walked in the door and shut it quietly. To only see her was all Remus needed. He ran up to her and lifted her up off her feet in a sweeping hug. His lips claimed hers, as if they had been apart for ages. He bit hungrily at her lower lip and she let out a soft moan.

Remus placed her on her feet, and nestled his head on her shoulder toward her neck, breathing in her scent.

“Miss me?” she asked letting out a small laugh.

“Mmmm..” he replied softly.

She laughed and hugged him and kissed the side of his head. “Feel better now?” she asked.

Remus brought his head out from her neck, “A little.” He smiled, “But I’m still going to kill Ron.” Hermione laughed outloud, and Remus lifed her up and began walking towards the bed.

He gently placed her on the bed and using his wand extinguished the few candles that were lighting the room.

-Fin-
